Sorry for the delay in posts lately. I've been so busy with college life which includes homework, final exams, club meetings, etc. Now mix in some fun things like conventions and parties. I haven't been able to do anything on livejournal for a while. Now for 2008 I will try to put more time out to be on Lj more.

Halloween-change of costumes just as I expected. Change is inevitable in my life. XD We became twin bloody schoolgirls. Pictures under the cut.

I also attended NYAF in December. Didn't have time to make an elaborate costume so instead I dressed up as a maid. ^^

More pictures and updates to come! Til next time my dears.

For Halloween, my cosplay buddy and I are going to dress as kurololitas. = ] I love the creepyness + cuteness of the style. I plan to carry around a bandaged teddy bear. Additional accessories include eyepatch and chain earring that connects to lip. <---not really kurololi though Fake blood is going to be everywhere, I was thinking about putting drips coming down from my eye that's covered by the eyepatch and out of my mouth. =D On that Wednesday, I have two classes (College Writing and Intro to Film). Wow people are going to be scared. >.< Oh well it's going to be Halloween anyway. <3

A couple of days ago I dressed up as japanese schoolgirls and went to take some purikura in Chinatown, NY. Sadly the price is far from ideal. It's really pricey for a sheet of pictures. T_T You can find the "purikura parlor" in Elizabeth Center. They have only three machines I believe. Well anyway, the pics came out cute! =] It's attached as one huge picture so those with dial-up beware! Plus I was too lazy to chop up the images into individual ones. ^^'

I was reading something online about etiquette around the world. One of the ones that caught my eye was etiquette from Asia. I recognized some of the rules because my family practices it at home. I wasn't aware it was "etiquette" I just thought my parents were uber superstitious. XD Here is a list of some of the most familiar or interesting to me...

Yesterday I watched the movie "Pride and Prejudice" with Kiera Knightly. It quickly became one of my favorite movies! Jane Austin is such an amazing author who had a talent for writing. The movie also featured a wonderful score with memorable songs. Of course the costumes caught my attention. Even in the scenes when the dresses were plain there was an unspoken elegance about it. Beautiful movie, yes. =]

Back in May, I went to a bubble tea cafe with my friends. Chinatown in NY has many bubble tea cafes which feature the asian favorite beverage with "pearls" or "bubbles". The bubbles are actually tapioca at the bottom of the drink. There are a ton of flavors and of course it depends on where you go: Chocolate (my personal fave), green tea, taro, milk tea, strawberry, coconut, honeydew, lychee, etc. Funny things happen when you start drinking bubble tea =]

Yesterday night I was brainstorming ideas for which cosplay I wanted to do for the upcoming Manganext convention. It's a new convention, this is it's second year only. Since I loved it so much last year, I'm going again this October. ^^ Last year my costumes were very simple, like generic characters if you will. But this year will be different! Now I just have to choose my favorites and start making them.

Manganext Convention
October 5-7th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Crowne Plaza Meadowlands
$20 pre-reg and $30 at door

In July I attended the Animenext convention in Secaucus, NJ. On the 2nd-3rd day, my sister and I dressed up as japanese schoolgirls! Everything we wore was matching except for the shoes. >.< I liked wearing the outfit except sometimes the skirt was a little too short. But it was a fun weekend filled with 12012, shopping and wasting money. haha Some people who didn't know the convention was this weekend did stare at us and everyone around them in strange costumes. I remember a bunch of kids nearby arguing about asking someone what the hell was going on.  XD

[Edit: More pictures added! I found the ones Refractor Productions had on their website. ^^]

Today I was watching Kamikaze Girls. It was a very interesting movie that normal people would find odd. I loved the odd characters, whimsical feel and of course the lolita fashions featured in the movie. Watching movies with pretty costumes always inspires me to whip something up. Taking a break from the computer, I sat down at my table with my "sewing kit" (which is actually a tin with needles, thread, lace, sequins, elastic, ribbon, etc.) and made a cute bow out of some adorable fabric I found. I added some lace on the edges but I still have to attach it to a headband.

[My inspiration from *Baby, The Stars Shine Bright*]

My aunt used to be seamstress so our basement is filled with loads of fabric. We also have a boxful of thread in every color you can imagine. There are three huge factory-type sewing machines that I'm scared to use. -_-' Yes it's a wonder I don't make clothes more often.
